Plans to host the 13th Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) showcase themed “Coming of Age” have commenced.
The City calls on interested fashion designers, who are eager to showcase their latest collections during Africa’s leading fashion event, to apply before the closing date of 16 August 2024.
This will afford designers an opportunity to showcase their new collections to attending buyers and industry role-players while boosting their brand identity. They will also have the opportunity to facilitate potential collaborations with like-minded designers while boosting their sales.
Applications must be submitted via the following link: https://forms.gle/iHq6AA49pd5frffs9

The DFF will be hosted at a new venue this year, namely the Station Urban Event Space from 18 to 20 September.
The DFF showcase will have a total of 12 shows over three days, with fours shows per day.
Chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee Councillor Thembo Ntuli said: “The programme is growing from strength to strength and has become one of the leading fashion events in Africa.”
He said they are proud that the programme has four components that contribute to skills development and job creation.
The first component is fashion mentorship which consists of nine-months of capacity building targeting emerging fashion designers. About 24 emerging designers are currently being trained and will be “launched” in September during the DFF showcase.

The second component is the model bootcamp, which consists of two months of professional modelling training targeting 24 aspiring models.
The third part is the DFF showcase – a market access platform through fashion showcases where designers are linked with potential buyers.
Lastly, the DFF Emporium creates further access to the market. The City rents a physical store in uMlazi Mega City where a collection of over 40 local designers’ creations are on sale at no cost to them.
