Secluded”, was the idea that I had in mind with this one travel feature, I had the urge to get off the grid and escape the city buzz that pierces through my window every morning in Maboneng, landing in Kameeldrift was really a thriller, and it took me back to the young boy that grew in Mthatha’s rural village. The Roodevalley Hotel, by Premier Hotels, had the honor of hosting me for a single night in pursuit of my venture, to experience stillness and peace.
The journey to Roodevalley Hotel was well deserved, it has been really a year and a half, it has been a bump and grind, but we are keeping the composure, as it is required in the line of work that we do, entertainment, content creation and keeping up with online presence. Shuu! It can be a lot, but you know what? We love it here.
Roodevalley Hotel nestled in the East of Pretoria, 23 minutes away from the city centre, off R513 onKameeldrift East Road, this sacred haven is a beautiful space for rehabilitation, for the fact that it is so drifted away from the noise of a normal big town, it makes it so perfect for a getaway where one is just looking to enjoy nature. Known for being a bird sanctuary and set upon the banks of Pienaar’s River, for sure you can already imagine the amount of peace that it exudes. Noise is strictly prohibited and that is a great thing for us that are looking for a peaceful stay.
Being here truly for me was just reliving my entire child all over again, I remember how excited I was walking into a thatched roofing room, this whole experience took me back to the nights I spent in a rondavel with my grandmother, spending some time overlooking the riverbank reminded me of the time I used to swim in a local dam and I would be in trouble with my aunt. I have always loved to explore and doing it now on a larger scale with a bottle of Boschendal Brut Method Cap Classique in my hands is just a top notch added luxury.
The most amazing feeling in traveling is going to a place that you do not know, and the worrying that you might get lost is really overwhelming, but we do it anyway because it brings a lot of happiness to one’s life, and getting to Roodevalley Hotel wasn’t any different, I had never been to that area before, prior to my visit. I got on the freeway, following my GPS and in less than 2 hours from Johannesburg – Maboneng, I was already on Kameeldrift Road East. I love the feeling when the GPS eventually leads you to the correct desired destination.
I walked into reception, and I was greeted with such a great smile and enthusiasm from Front Desk, and that was so welcoming, however what was even more awesome was finding out that Front Desk was well briefed of who I am, and all expectations were exceedingly met. However, over and above that, Roodevalley Hotel- Premier Hotels International made it really swift to check-in.
In the wilds and secluded area of Kameeldrift, Roodevalley Hotel sets the tone of class and sophistication, making this small town a go-to place for those that want to escape the city, Roodevalley Hotel keeps the Kameeldrift roadvery busy on Sunday morning with all the guests driving away from this thrill.
Do you need to revive the spark between you and your loved one? don’t let it slide it will slip away, Roodevalley Hotel does not only offer you a tranquil stay, but will be a champion in fighting for a crumbling empire, with the help of the Hotel’s dedicated staff, you will be able to set up a romantic picnic looking over the river bank of Pienaar River.
Dinner served to me was just as spectacular as the thatched main dining area, even though I really thought that I preferred A la Carte, but the buffet was quite an adventure, and I enjoyed every piece of steak and sausage, being a true South African. One thing that you should be looking forward to during breakfast is Roodevalley Hotel’s breathtaking omilette, with all the nice fillings and the portion is really up to par!
During your stay, sit and relax to enjoy a nice pool session in their hotel’s pool that is open from 7am to 9pm. Hop for a drink at the bar, after a few take a stroll and take part in some stargazing by the riverbank, don’t tell me that you will not enjoy all these nice treats.
The Premier Hotel International is a truly a brand that pays a lot of attention to details, and it is evident in all their establishments that I have been to, the signature classy look which you will find across all their Hotels, whether you are in Cape Town, Midrand or Sandton, the approach to image is the same.
